Analytical Components
To whom and for what purpose?
- If there are symptoms of hairballs such as vomiting, gagging, and/or coughing, Hairballkun facilitates the expulsion of hairballs through the feces and consequently reverses the associated symptoms, improving your kitten’s well-being. Stop your cat’s coughing and gagging with Hairballkun!
- Hairballkun prevents the formation of hairballs. The risk of hairball formation in cats increases in animals with longer, denser coats and constant grooming behavior. For cats that regularly or intermittently suffer from hairballs, a constant preventive treatment is highly recommended.
Hairball formation in cats is generally considered to result from routine grooming activity where cats ingest varying amounts of hair. Individual ingested hair strands cannot pass through the intestine, so they get tangled in the stomach lining and eventually clump into solid masses in the stomach or intestines.
Use of HAIRBALLKUN is not recommended in cases of:
- Malabsorption syndrome, as Hairballkun may interfere with digestion and nutrient absorption processes.
- Diarrhea or poor fecal quality, since a high amount of fiber can irritate the intestinal epithelium.
- Patients suspected of intestinal obstruction, paralytic ileus, or intestinal perforation, which can be life-threatening and may require surgical intervention.
This supplement may slightly soften stool texture.
How is it administered?
Daily recommendation to be administered directly into the mouth, on top of food, or on the paw or muzzle to encourage the animal to ingest the product while grooming:

Hairballkun can be administered chronically without the need for any rest periods between tubes.
How long should I administer it?
- If there are symptoms of hairballs: twice a day for 5 consecutive days as a loading dose. In this case, stools may appear softer than usual. Then continue with the maintenance dose indicated according to the risk of hairball formation.
- To prevent hairball formation in:
- Short-haired cats with outdoor access and not in shedding season: once a week as maintenance.
- Long-haired cats without outdoor access and in shedding season: three times a week as maintenance.

How do their active ingredients work?

Mineral oil
It is an inert substance that is not absorbed and acts by softening hairballs and providing lubrication to facilitate their passage through the intestine.

Psyllium Husk
It is a source of gel-forming soluble fiber, which has the property of increasing the viscosity of the digestive contents, delaying gastric emptying. In this way, psyllium husk promotes the binding of hair to food particles and, therefore, increases the transfer of hair from the stomach to the duodenum and improves passage through the intestine.

Cellulose
It is a source of insoluble and non-fermentable fiber, which has the property of delaying gastric emptying. Therefore, cellulose leads to the binding of hairs to food particles, so that more hairs are transferred to the duodenum. In addition, cellulose increases the intestinal transit rate of the digesta, which in turn promotes the excretion of hairs with the feces.

Omega-6 Fatty Acids
They are essential fatty acids that improve the condition of the skin and coat, thus reducing transepidermal water loss which reduces hair loss and irritation. Consequently, the reduction of hair ingestion is favored.

Vitamin E
Inflammation generates a large amount of free radicals, which in turn accelerate the inflammatory process. Vitamin E is one of the most effective antioxidants to protect the oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids that make up cell membranes. It prevents lipid oxidation by eliminating peroxyl radicals before they can react with fatty acids or proteins of adjacent cell membranes.

Biotin
It acts as a cofactor for carboxylase synthase enzymes. This group of enzymes catalyzes the biosynthesis of fatty acids, making this vitamin crucial in maintaining the health of the dermal barrier.

Zinc
Maintains the function and integrity of the intestinal barrier at the level of tight junctions, thus preventing the entry of antigens, toxins, and pathogenic bacteria that cause inflammation.
