Analytical Components

Crude protein 19.20%; Crude fibre 0.04%; Crude fat 34.57%; Crude ash 9.48%; Omega-3 fatty acids 4.85%; Omega-6 fatty acids 1.00%; Omega-6 fatty acids 1.00%.

How do its active ingredients work?

Butyric acid

It improves epithelial integrity as the preferred metabolic fuel for enterocytes, positively influences cell proliferation, differentiation and maturation (increased villus height and reduced crypt depth) and thus facilitates nutrient absorption. Butyric acid also acts by decreasing intestinal inflammation, by reducing oxidative DNA damage and by inducing apoptosis in DNA-damaged cells.

Zinc

Maintains the function and integrity of the intestinal barrier at the tight junctions, thus preventing the entry of antigens, toxins and pathogenic bacteria that cause inflammation.

Omega 3 fatty acids

They modulate eicosanoid production, with eicosanoids resulting from the metabolism of omega-3 fatty acids being less stimulatory to the inflammatory response than those resulting from omega-6 fatty acids. In addition, omega-3 fatty acids are the precursors of resolvins and protectins, inflammation counter-regulatory substances that serve as agonists of endogenous anti-inflammatory mechanisms and act significantly in the resolution of inflammation.

Enterococcus faecium

Improves the balance of the gut microbiota. Competition for nutrients, adhesion sites and the production of antimicrobial substances (short-chain fatty acids, defensins, etc.) inhibit the proliferation of pathogenic bacteria, while favouring the development of beneficial bacteria.

Fructooligosaccharides

Prebiotic component, which means that it resists digestion and reaches the colon intact where it is a source of energy for beneficial bacteria (Lactobacillus spp, Bacteroides spp and Bifidobacterium spp), thus stimulating their growth and/or activity. As a result of their fermentation, they decrease the production of toxic substances (ammonia and biogenic amines) and increase the release of short-chain fatty acids (acetate, propionate, lactate and butyrate) into the intestinal lumen, reducing the presence of pathogenic bacteria (E. coli and C. perfringens), thanks to the reduction of colonic pH.

Vitamin B12

It plays an important role in many biochemical reactions (including DNA synthesis and the synthesis of methionine from homocysteine), as well as in important enzymatic reactions in the citric acid cycle, where it acts as a cofactor. Hypocobalaminemia typically occurs when specific cobalamin receptors in the ileum are damaged as a consequence of inflammatory disease. Deficiency is accelerated by reduced cobalamin intake and ongoing gastrointestinal losses.

To whom and for what purpose?

  • In cases of recurrent or chronic mild diarrhoea or poor faecal quality, Enterokun Mild reduces the use of antibiotic therapy and immunosuppressive agents.
  • During and after antibiotic treatment, this supplement helps prevent possible secondary diarrhoea caused by the use of antibiotics.
  • Enterokun Mild improves digestive comfort in cases of flatulence by reducing its intensity.
  • In the face of a predictable stressful situation such as travel, new pets at home, weaning, moving house, etc., Enterokun Mild prevents the onset of possible diarrhoea secondary to one of these or other stressful situations.

The use of ENTEROKUN MILD is not recommended in case of:

  • Food allergy to fish or during periods of treatment with exclusion diets.

How is it administered?

Daily recommendation to be added on top of food. This dose can be divided into different doses throughout the day:

Tablespoons* Duration of container
0,5 11 days

*11,8 g per tablespoon.
The spoon is included in the package.

This pack is suitable for a situation of occasional diarrhoea or for a time of a change of diet. If you want to deal with recurrent or chronic diarrhoea, we recommend Enterokun Mild in a bottle.

Enterokun Mild for cats can be given in conjunction with any type of diet (feed, home or commercial cooked, BARF or dehydrated). In addition, it can be administered chronically without the need for any rest period between bottles.

How long should I administer it for?

  • In cases of occasional diarrhoea: administration for at least 5 days and maintenance for as long as symptoms persist.
  • As a preventive during and after antibiotic treatment: Administer for the duration of antibiotic treatment and continue until at least 7 days after the last antibiotic dose.
  • To reduce flatulence: For at least 15 days.
  • In front of a predictable stressful situation such as travel, new pets at home, weaning, moving house, etc: 3 days before the stressful situation, for the duration of the stressful situation and for 3 days after the stressful situation is over.
  • In the event of a change of feed: 3 days before the start of the transition to the new feed and for the following 7 days.
