How do its active ingredients work?

Medium-chain fatty acids

The nutritional needs of animals are modified by exercise. The amount of energy required for exercise depends on the total work performed, which varies greatly for intermediate activity-level sporting animals. Their energy needs range from 2 to 5 times their resting energy requirements, with athletes engaged in endurance activities requiring more than 5 times their resting energy needs. Due to its energy density, fat is an ideal nutrient to significantly incorporate into the diet of animals engaged in prolonged exercise. Additionally, medium-chain fatty acids (fatty acids with a chain length of 8 to 12 carbons) do not depend on L-carnitine for transport across the mitochondrial membrane, bypassing this limiting step in fatty acid oxidation.

Branched-chain amino acids

Physical activity increases the protein needs of the animal due to an increase in the synthesis of structural and functional proteins, as well as an increase in tissue catabolism. Branched-chain amino acids (leucine, isoleucine, valine) are "essential" and therefore must be replaced through food. Supplementation with branched-chain amino acids decreases protein degradation induced by exercise and the release of muscle enzymes (indicators of muscle damage). Thus, supplementation with branched-chain amino acids during intense training helps increase lean muscle mass.

L-Carnitine

L-Carnitine is the transporter of fatty acids from the cytosol to the mitochondria of cells, being responsible for the rate-limiting step of lipid oxidation. Increasing cellular levels of carnitine improves the transport of fatty acids to the mitochondria and, consequently, fat metabolism.

To whom and for what purpose?

  • In sporting animals engaging in intermediate exercise (physical activity of variable duration ranging from a few minutes to a few hours) such as agility, recreational activities (running, trekking, cycling), canicross, dog dancing, disc dog, dock jumping, bikejoring, skijoring, etc., or in dogs participating in endurance exercise (physical activity lasting several hours) such as mushing, Sportkun Start promotes optimal muscle recovery, enhancing physical performance during training sessions with your dog.
  • Sportkun Start provides the same benefits in working animals such as police and military units (customs control, drug detection), guard dogs, hunting dogs, tracking dogs, search and rescue dogs, service dogs (guide dogs and assistance dogs), and herding dogs.

 

It is not recommended to use SPORTKUN START in case of:

  • Animals presenting or at risk of hypotension.

How is it administered?

Recommended amount to be mixed with drinking water:

Dose Glasses of water* Duration of the package
1/2 sachet (30 g) 1 1 sachet = 2 servings
Pack of 5 sachets = 10 servings


*250 ml per glass

For animals weighing less than 10 kg, it is recommended to halve the dose (1/4 of a sachet in 1/2 glass of water).

Administration is recommended 4 hours before starting physical exercise and every 5 km of the route, for the duration of the activity.

Additionally, mixing it with drinking water promotes hydration of the animal!
