What does your cat gain with Elderkun?

The nutritional supplement Elderkun® for cats prevents brain aging in senior cats. This supplement is ideal for cats over 7 years of age, whether they show changes in behavior or activity levels or not.

Improve cognitive health with Elderkun for cats

It is the go-to supplement to maintain your kitty's neuronal health and prevent brain degeneration. So that, no matter how old they get, they remain the same as always! Elderkun for cats is made from natural active ingredients, which are commonly found in food and work synergistically with each other. Thanks to its active principles, this dietary supplement protects the central nervous system, improving the health and neuronal function of your cat.

Composition

Ingredients

Flavoring by-product (hydrolyzed pork liver and yeasts), fish oil (sardine), dry carrot (from organic farming).

Nutritional Additives

Emulsifiers: Lecithins - 6 670 mg/kg; Vitamins: Vitamin C - 2 220 mg/kg, Vitamin E - 8 890 IU/kg, L-carnitine - 11 110 mg/kg; Trace elements: Selenium (sodium selenite) - 7.8 mg/kg.

Analytical Components

Crude protein 17.95%; Crude fiber 1.86%; Crude fat 40.91%; Crude ash 9.02%; Omega-3 fatty acids 8.10%; Omega-6 fatty acids 1.67%

How do its active ingredients work?

Omega-3 Fatty Acids

They promote the health of cell membranes, as docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) is required to maintain the normal function of brain cells, and they decrease amyloid protein levels and plaque formation. Additionally, omega-3 fatty acids have anti-inflammatory properties, through the modulation of eicosanoid production. The eicosanoids resulting from the metabolism of omega-3 fatty acids are less stimulating of the inflammatory response than those resulting from omega-6 fatty acids. Furthermore, omega-3 fatty acids are the precursors of resolvins and protectins, counter-regulatory substances of inflammation that serve as agonists for endogenous anti-inflammatory mechanisms and act significantly in the resolution of inflammation.

Phosphatidylserine

It is the principal building block of cell membranes and aims to facilitate the transduction of neuronal signals and improve cholinergic transmission. Phosphatidylserine has been shown to positively affect neurotransmitter release and neurotransmitter receptor density in various brain regions of animals with memory issues, thereby providing protection against neuronal death (neuroprotection).

L-carnitine

It is the transporter of fatty acids from the cytosol into the mitochondria of cells, being responsible for the rate-limiting step of lipid oxidation. The increase in cellular levels of carnitine improves the transport of fatty acids to the mitochondria and, consequently, fat metabolism.

Carotenoids

They possess antioxidant and immunostimulant properties.

Vitamin E

It is one of the most effective antioxidants for protecting polyunsaturated fatty acids, which are constituents of cell membranes, from oxidation. Vitamin E prevents lipid oxidation by eliminating peroxyl radicals before they can react with the fatty acids or proteins of adjacent cell membranes.

Vitamin C

It is the most potent reducing agent available to cells. Vitamin C regenerates the glutathione enzyme, neutralizing free radicals both intracellularly and extracellularly.

Selenium

It acts as a cofactor for glutathione peroxidase, an antioxidant enzyme that protects tissues against oxidative stress by catalyzing the reduction of hydrogen peroxides and organic hydroperoxides, and by regenerating vitamin E.

To whom and for what purpose?

  • Elderkun reverses and slows down the progression of symptoms in cats with behavioral changes associated with age (cognitive dysfunction syndrome) such as disorientation, altered interactions with people or other animals, sleep-wake cycle disturbances, house soiling, changes in activity level, etc., improving their quality of life and your relationship.
  • This supplement is also ideal for preventing the appearance of any behavioral alteration and neurological symptom associated with age, ensuring that, no matter how old, your cat remains the same as always! Since neurodegeneration is a progressive process, the earlier the alterations are corrected, the more effective the treatment will be. Cats are often considered senior when they reach half of their expected lifespan. Consequently, the administration of Elderkun should be considered around seven or eight years old, as a preventive measure.

The use of ELDERKUN is not recommended in case of:

  • Patients with altered coagulation, concurrent administration with platelet aggregation inhibitors, or processes that involve bleeding.

How is it administered?

Daily recommendation to be added on top of the food. This dose can be distributed in different takes throughout the day.

Weight Tablespoons* Duration of the package
<10 kg 0.5 1.5 months

*11.6 g per tablespoon. The spoon is included in the package.

Elderkun for cats can be administered together with any type of diet (kibble, homemade or commercial cooked food, BARF, or dehydrated). Additionally, it can be administered chronically without the need for any rest period between containers.

For how long should I administer it?

  • In the case of cats with behavioral changes associated with age such as disorientation, sleep disturbances, and changes in activity level, etc.: Administration for at least 3 months is recommended. In any case, from the onset of symptoms, it is recommended to administer the product chronically.
  • For the prevention of any behavioral alteration and neurological symptom associated with age: Administer half the recommended dose as preventive treatment.
