Analytical Components
To whom and for what purpose?
- In cases of atopic dermatitis accompanied by itching and scaling, Dermakun helps reduce the use of medications such as corticosteroids, antihistamines, and immunomodulators or even dispense with them.
- In animals with itching, redness, and skin inflammation, Dermakun reduces discomfort and skin irritation, easing your furry friend's discomfort and promoting recovery.
- Dermakun promotes the recovery of skin health and coat quality in cases of nutrient deficiency that cause poor coat quality, generalized scaling, crust formation in friction areas, hair loss and lack of growth, and poor wound healing.
- In situations at risk of zinc deficiency, as occurs in Nordic dog breeds, Dermakun prevents the appearance of possible skin and coat conditions.
- During shedding, this supplement improves coat quality and reduces excessive hair loss, making it faster and more bearable for the whole family.
The use of DERMAKUN is not recommended in cases of:
- Patients with altered coagulation, concurrent administration with platelet aggregation inhibitors, or conditions involving bleeding.
- Situations with iron deficiency or other diseases associated with iron.
- Food allergy to fish or during exclusion diet treatment periods.
How is it administered?
Daily recommendation to be added on top of the food. This dose can be divided into different intakes throughout the day:
Tablespoons* | Duration of the container |
---|---|
0.5 | 2 months |
*8.6 g per tablespoon. The spoon is included in the container.
Dermakun for cats can be administered together with any type of diet (dry food, homemade or commercial cooked food, BARF or dehydrated). In addition, it can be administered chronically without the need to take breaks between containers.
How long should I administer it?
- In cases of atopic dermatitis with itching and scaling: Administration is recommended for at least 15 days and to continue as long as symptoms persist.
- In cases of atopic dermatitis with symptoms under control: Reduce the recommended daily dose by half as maintenance.
- For seasonal atopic skin inflammation problems: Start administration 15 days before exposure to allergens.
- In cases of nutrient deficiency: It is recommended to administer for 1 month to resolve symptoms. Then reduce the dose by half for maintenance and to prevent possible relapses.
- During molting: Administration is recommended for at least 15 days and to continue as long as it persists.

How do their active ingredients work?

Vitamin B3
It suppresses the activity of tryptophan 2,3-dioxygenase, which is one of the key enzymes in the conversion of tryptophan to niacin. If tryptophan is converted to niacin, it is no longer available as a precursor of serotonin in the brain and, therefore, supplementation with vitamin B3 may reduce the “loss” of tryptophan due to nicotinic acid synthesis.

Vitamin B5
It is present throughout the body in the form of coenzyme A. Coenzyme A plays a fundamental role in the formation of a series of essential fatty acids and sterols. As such, it is important in the formation of lipids that make up the laminar components of the skin barrier.

Biotin
It acts as a cofactor for carboxylase synthase enzymes. This group of enzymes catalyzes the biosynthesis of fatty acids, making this vitamin crucial in maintaining the health of the dermal barrier.

Vitamin E
Inflammation generates a large amount of free radicals, which in turn accelerate the inflammatory process. Vitamin E is one of the most effective antioxidants to protect the oxidation of polyunsaturated fatty acids that make up cell membranes. It prevents lipid oxidation by eliminating peroxyl radicals before they can react with fatty acids or proteins of adjacent cell membranes.

Vitamin C
It is the most potent reducing agent available to cells. Vitamin C regenerates the enzyme glutathione, neutralizes free radicals both intra- and extracellularly, and protects against free radical-mediated protein inactivation associated with oxidative neutrophil rupture.

Zinc
Maintains the function and integrity of the intestinal barrier at the level of tight junctions, thus preventing the entry of antigens, toxins, and pathogenic bacteria that cause inflammation.

Omega 3 Fatty Acids
They modulate the production of eicosanoids, with the eicosanoids resulting from the metabolism of omega 3 fatty acids being less stimulatory of the inflammatory response than those resulting from omega 6 fatty acids. Additionally, omega 3 fatty acids are precursors of resolvins and protectins, substances that counter-regulate inflammation, serving as agonists of endogenous anti-inflammatory mechanisms and acting significantly in the resolution of inflammation.

Curcumin
Its anti-inflammatory effect is mediated by the inhibition of enzymes that mediate inflammatory processes such as COX-2, LOX, and iNOS, the production of cytokines like interferon gamma and tumor necrosis factor, and the activation of transcription factors such as NF-κB and AP-1.

Piperine
Increases the bioavailability of curcumin (over 20 times), due to the inhibition it exerts on hepatic glucuronidation and intestinal metabolism of curcumin.
