How to calm my dog during the San Juan festival
June 23 is the first event we have marked on the calendar to welcome summer and good weather. The San Juan festival🎇 is one of the most anticipated celebrations by families and young people, but it is not the only one. It is joined by the Major Festivals throughout the territory that neighbors look forward to celebrating during the warmer months. 🍻
Our pets, however, do not share these celebrations, especially those accompanied by firecrackers, fireworks, bonfires, and noise. The reason is that their hearing sensitivity is much greater than that of humans, specifically 🔊 3 times higher. If we can hear a maximum frequency of 20 kHz, their sensitivity reaches 60 kHz. This means that any noise or impact is much more alarming to them. 😱
Today we bring a guide 📝 on how to identify crisis episodes, some tips to mitigate their effects, and the recommendation of Mindkun to improve the well-being of our furry friends.
If you observe 👀 any of these signs, it is possible that your furry friend is experiencing an anxiety episode or is scared:
- Tail between the legs or down
- Ears pinned to the head, immobilized or lowered
- Tremors
- Whining, barking, and panting
- Excessive salivation
- Loss of appetite
- Urinating
- Wanting to escape or hide in a quiet place
- Soiling the house despite normally not doing so
As you can see, these are very easy behaviors to identify. When you recognize them or a festival approaches, you can put into practice some of these tips:
- As the festivities approach, prepare a quiet room where the dog feels comfortable and can hide. We advise doing drills about 15 days before to avoid surprising them. ⏳ Start now!
- During the festival, do not scold the animal. Fear is irrational and any inappropriate behavior obeys a survival instinct. 💪🏼
- Stay calm and act naturally. Give attention at all times, whether nervous or not. Giving too much attention during a crisis can encourage fear. In any case, the goal is not to reinforce negative behavior. ❤
- Close windows and lower blinds 🚪 to reduce outside noise.
- Put on background music 🎶 to distract them.
- Take them for a walk always on a leash 🐕, on the usual route, before all the commotion starts. Then accompany them to the room before they get scared.
The administration of nutraceuticals, such as Mindkun, 🧘🏻♀️ calms our animals. Its active ingredients promote a feeling of calm and well-being, reducing stress and anxiety levels. We explain how the natural ingredients in its composition achieve this effect:
- 🥛 Alpha-casozepine: is responsible for activating central GABA receptors, reducing stress and anxiety. It has been shown that this substance present in cow's milk improves animals' reactions when interacting with strangers. Its anxiolytic effect is comparable to diazepam but without its side effects.
- 🍗 Tryptophan, vitamin B6, and vitamin B3: promote serotonin synthesis, which favors a feeling of calm and well-being, minimizing nervous and aggressive behaviors.
- 🍚 Glucose: the small insulin spike it generates favors the entry of tryptophan at the central nervous system level.
To enhance its effect, we recommend starting to administer it at least 4 days before the marked day so that blood tryptophan levels increase progressively. 📈 On the day of the festival, you can double the Mindkun dose without any problem. 💙 Regarding administration, we advise giving the product between meals to avoid interaction with dietary protein. Once the party is over, continue administering the supplement, gradually reducing the dose.📉
🐶 With these guidelines, the animal will not enjoy a happy San Juan… But at least will suffer as little as possible.
