The coexistence of dogs and children

Our furry friend is already part of our family, and we want them to get along well with all the members of the household. The relationship between dogs or cats and children can be fantastic and beneficial, as it contributes to social and educational development.

However, there are several points to consider, especially if either of them has just arrived.

  • Introduction and training: When a new member joins the family, you should educate the child or the puppy to approach carefully and respect their boundaries. Children can make noises or do actions that annoy the dog and may scare them. It is important to teach them not to bother the dog or cat.
  • Socialization: From an early age, both dogs and cats should be socialized with children so that everyone feels comfortable and safe. Gradually expose them to situations with your children.
  • Pet care: Teach your children that taking care of pets is very important. Proper feeding, regular exercise, and visits to the veterinarian are some of the aspects you can show your child.
  • Safe refuge: Make sure your furry friend has a safe and comfortable place to retreat to in situations where they feel overwhelmed or nervous due to the presence of children.

You will see how the relationship formed between your child and your four-legged friend is beautiful, and little by little they will form a wonderful bond. However, you must supervise the behavior of both parties to ensure this.
